05:08 pm - Porcupine Tree - Metanoia

Well... The day Uroboros leaked, I also finally found Metanoia, a pretty rare Porcupine Tree album I've been looking for...
I'll have to switch off Uroboros to start getting into it... Maybe... Next week...
Fuck, it has to be hype.

04:24 pm - Dir en grey - Uroboros

Fuck yea :D
So the album was finally leaked and I've been listening to it ALOT for the past 2 days. I've got to say this is far from the catchy vocal-centric melodies of Withering To Death. They've clearly moved on to the next step which was to make fans completely forget that their 2 last albums had american nu-metal and hardcore influences. This one is just pure Macabre-like material. Not too catchy, not too fast, not too heavy, just enough of every instrument. Perfect.
I'm not a victim of hype, just an appreciator of new material :D
I'll probably buy the original album, just to have it in decent quality when it comes out... (plus, there seems to be a DVD and lots of bonus with the special edition :D)

Russian Circles - Station
Fuck "boring". Whoever applies that term to the music he/she can't fucking stand, then don't bother listening to music in the first place. It's an horribly restrictive term typical to this generation's way of judging things rather than appreciating them. TV is the fucking culprit. Music is a fucking art form, not some entertainment that has to deserve your short attention span!
And yes, the majority's tastes do matter. If 99 motherfuckers out of 100 listen to the same bullshit, a great creative band disbands because of no support. What kind of band lives off a 1-person fanbase? Seeing how music regressed since the 70's I wouldn't be surprised to see lifeless 300BMP harmonic/melodic/whatever metal on TV in a couple of years... Oh, wait, right, Dragonforce.
Stop expecting music to reach you first, it's about appreciation, not your fucking judgement. Nobody cares if you like or don't like something, but appreciating something without judging can be infinitely rewarding (for some). Expecting music to entertain you is the kind of thinking that leads to over-produced bullcrap like Tokio Hotel. Music especially adapted for your unapreciative and stubborn "tastes".
Music as an art form. Music as an art form...?
If you can't appreciate something, then at least don't go influencing other people to think the same. And YES, you do influence others to think like you. Whoever has never heard of a certain band will take the first opinion he/she hears about it and write it in his/her subconscious. That is why most of you narrow-minded fucks learned to categorize Radiohead as "boring" before you even heard any of their albums. Perfectly logical explanation.
The worst thing about all that is that you take pride in your so-called "opinions". "I don't have time to discover music" is a shit excuse for having such a narrow-minded opinion. "I don't like this part" well then learn to like it. You know the whole thing can be appreciated by someone, why not you? What makes you special enough to have the right to hate something that is possible to appreciate? What keeps you from learning to appreciate it? Fucking appreciate it, for your own good. Stop putting pride in everything you can't appreciate.

Sleepmakeswaves - In Today Already Walks Tomorrow
Fuck people. People on Last.FM never talk, answer or have more than one sentence to say, and the PRR "fan"base is only trying to moderate the hype around their next album and gang up on anyone who tries to raise that hype a bit... This sucks, it's like they don't want the album to come out... Any hope of a pre-album thread or topic is crushed on those boards. It's disgusting. What kind of low-life would bother being active on a fan forum and not act like a fan at all? (Even worse when it's a fucking moderator)
And then there's that bunch of anti-creative people on Last.FM bashing on Tool, Radiohead, NIN, all those big bands of the 90's that influenced the decent bands of this generation, comparing them to the shit bands of this generation. What's wrong with the world??
This sucks, nobody likes music anymore, it's like a huge anti-music conspiracy...
Jazz appreciators are usually very dedicated and open-minded. I need to get into jazz. Over-dramatic and over-emotional instrumental post-rock is also okay.
One Day You Will Teach Me to Let Go of my Fears - Sleepmakeswaves is awesome.

I've had this mp3 version of a live dvd of the japanese post-rock band TOE for about a week now... Just found their studio material, so now I have another band on my "must get into this week" list.
Here's the whole thing : - Explosions in The Sky - Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia - Mogwai - Sigur Ros
(Yep, 3 out of the 4 "biggest" post-rock bands are there)
Also, I'm learning musical theory. There's a fuckload of things to know, and I need to learn them all at the same time. It's fucking hard!

Still in my quest for post-rock, I'm getting into "Meanwhile, Back in Communist Russia..." (Because a friend on last.fm seems completely addicted to them) Loving their style of post-rock, like a smoother and more dramatic Maybeshewill...
Also, open up the world records book, I've had 10 coffees today... After 5 hours of sleep... I'm off to bed now.

01:58 am - Sonic Youth episode 2!

I know, it's a ridiculous album cover... Sonic Youth is still a pretty big revelation... The album Washing Machine (with the silly album cover) is my favorite so far, but I've only listened to a couple of them... Goo has to be pretty high on the list as well... And fuck, they're all damn amazing.
Also, I changed the blog's design. I made the "content area" background picture in micro$oft paint...
Also found of couple of bands today, including the japanese post-rock band Toe, which has really caught my attention (MOAR!!) And getting into Godspeed You Black Emperor! and Meanwhile, Back In Communist Russia...
And for some weird reasons, I'm following the US elections with the NBC Nightly News video podcast on my awesome new iPod... ZOMG! McCain won't attend the debate!

I'm hooked... The cool thing is that they got super popular in the 90's, (not "mainstream" popularity tho) so they have a fucking huge discography.
